IoT, Big Data and Sensors – Assessing The Impact of 4th Industrial Revolution on Water

This panel will explore how mega trends in the areas such as IoT, Big Data, Sensors and predictive analytics will affect the water industry.
Water is like an open economy. It is really a collection of disparate technologies that have a common denominator in that they ‘touch’ water in some way. Any developments in the general technology economy will also impact water technologies. The major disruptive technology drivers may not come from within, but from without. The 4th industrial revolution trends include AI, 3D Printing, predictive analytics, sharing economy business models and advanced robotics.
This panel will explore how predictive analytics has the potential to disrupt the value chain enabling technology providers to become pseudo-operators, how sensors and automated controls will make plants more efficient through realtime process control and monitoring and the role robotics and 3D printing can play in water.   A panel of experts will share ideas and visions as to how these technology developments  may impact the world of water.
Moderator:
Helge Daebel, Investment Director, Venture Capital, Emerald Technology Ventures
Panelists:
Ralph Exton, Chief Marketing Officer, GE Water
Shane Snyder, The University of Arizona
Trevor Hill, Chairman & CEO, FATHOM
16:45 Key-note – Dennis Bushnell, NASA Chief Scientist

Dennis Bushnell, NASA Chief Scientist, is an advisor to US government leaders on the effects of climate change and the solutions that can be developed to meet these challenges. This talk will challenge the water industry to face head-on some of the challenges coming in the next decades.  View excerpts from a recent interview with Dennis.
