BlueTech Forum is delighted to welcome filtration specialist Spiral Water on board for the Innovation Showcase taking place in San Francisco on 1st June. The California-based company will be sharing its revolutionary self-cleaning filter technology with delegates.

Spiral Water will take part in the Innovation Showcase during which companies selected by BlueTech Research analysts and O2 Environmental Technology Assessment Group will present project case studies introducing delegates to their technology concept, its value proposition and future market outlook.

The stainless steel cylindrical filter contains a spiral-shaped wiper within which continually cleans the filter element. Using a cleansing brush that is always spinning means that dirt does not build up, so the pressure differential as liquid passes through the filter is minimal, optimising energy consumption.

David Levitt, Chief Technology Officer, Spiral Water says, “We originally developed the self-cleaning filter for use in biofuel production. It was important to make it cost effective by minimising the energy requirement for filtration.”

The Spiral Water Filter can be used on industrial wastewater, seawater and produced water from oil processing. It has also been applied in the food and beverage sector both on brewery wastewater and, in one instance, to maximise juice recovery for a pomegranate processor. The company will share a macro filtration case study with delegates at BlueTech Forum.

Spiral Water Chief Executive Ashwin Gulati says, “We are currently looking for partners to develop this technology for other large-scale users in the industrial, marine and municipal markets. One of the most exciting developments will be to look at new ways of turning solid waste by-products into usable assets.”

O2 Environmental Technology Assessment Group (TAG) member Graeme Pearce says, “The combination of a pre-treatment strainer with a highly effective solids concentrator addresses some real unmet needs in the industry. This technology has an amazing breadth of operation and achieves significantly higher solids operation than competitor technologies.”
