Corina Carpentier, PhD (Aquatic Ecotoxicology), has over 25 years’ experience in the field of (online) water quality monitoring, and she is the founder of Benten Water Solutions as well as the co-founder of the Sensileau knowledge-exchange platform. Her work centres on improving the overall process of (online) water quality monitoring by optimising the application of currently available monitoring technologies, and by stimulating the development of new ones. She works with water and wastewater utilities to develop effective monitoring strategies and optimise their online as well as offline monitoring programmes. Additionally, Corina is an internationally recognised expert on the technical and market assessment of emerging technologies for online water quality monitoring, and as such a member of BlueTech Research’s Technology Assessment Group. She carries out Technical Due Diligence reviews and other technical assessments of online sensors and monitoring methodologies. Using her in-depth knowledge of both the water industry and its market dynamics, she supports sensor developers and start-up companies on their journey to convert scientific concepts into innovative products and build a successful business.
As the managing director and principal scientist of Sensileau, Corina uses her expertise to contribute to a more sustainable water industry which is well-prepared to face a future dominated by climate change challenges and increased water demand. She converts large amounts of research reports and peer-reviewed literature into interactive knowledge-exchange and decision-support tools which support the successful implementation of sensor technologies. With a background in drinking water and aquatic ecotoxicological research, Corina is a PRINCE2-certified project manager with over 12 years’ experience in managing large international research projects in the water sector. She has an eye for detail without losing sight of the bigger picture, and is resourceful in finding solutions to challenges.
