Dr. Ruediger Knauf was nominated Vice President, Global R&D of Siemens’ Water Technologies Business Unit in 2007. As Chief Technology Officer and head of R&D for the Global Business Unit Ruediger is globally responsible to lead Innovation Strategy and Innovation Management, Research & Development, Sustaining Engineering and Technology Programs which are based on the business strategy of the company. Ruediger manages 4 R&D Competence Centres as well as the Industry and Municipal Sustaining Engineering Groups with 150 full time employees located in North America, Europe, Singapore and Australia. He is responsible for proposing, implementing and executing research and development programs as well as sustaining engineering projects (upgrades, design to cost) to enhance business position and growth in global water markets.
Prior to this position Ruediger was Director, Corporate Technology and before that, during the Siemens integration process, he led the technology and R&D integration of USFilter into Siemens. Ruediger has been with Siemens since 2000, where he has also held several positions in process development, engineering and R&D including Director Engineering, Industrial Infrastructures. Prior to Siemens, Ruediger worked at Hoechst AG.
Ruediger received a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Technical University Clausthal-Zellerfeld and a Ph.D. degree in Membrane Technology at Technical University Aachen.
