NORAM has executed projects on 5 continents which have included the complete engineering and equipment supply for chemical and wastewater treatment plants, the supply of proprietary equipment, engineering studies and joint development projects.
NORAM is the owner of B.C. Research Inc. (www.bcri.ca), a leading innovation centre, specializing in the incubation and commercialization of upcoming technologies. The team at BCRI are experts in custom research, process development and technology commercialization, giving NORAM access to the world class R&D facilities required to maintain its technology leadership and pioneer new technologies.
NORAM also owns Axton Incorporated (www.axton.ca), a diversified manufacturing facility with engineering, fabrication, machining, and assembly capabilities.
NORAM works with many early-stage technology companies, providing engineering design and fabrication support, sharing its experience in technology commercialization, and growing with the company as a strategic stakeholder.
NORAM Bio Systems Inc.
NORAM Bio Systems (www.vertreat.com) offers VERTREAT™, a high-rate activated sludge process, and VERTAD™, an auto-thermophilic, aerobic sludge digestion process. Both use a patented in-ground design resulting in a smaller reactor volume and reduced energy consumption.
The VERTREAT™ process provides high quality effluent from high-strength industrial and municipal wastewater streams. Highly efficient oxygen transfer in VERTREAT™ reduces operating costs by about 50% compared to conventional systems.
As a stand-alone facility, or a retrofit for anaerobic digestion facilities, the VERTAD™ process achieves greater than 40% volatile solids reduction in a 4-day detention time, producing pathogen-free Class A biosolids faster than any competing digestion process.
The in-ground installation of the processes requires only 10-30% of the land of a conventional treatment system, offering flexibility in site selection and reducing the visual impact of the treatment plant. The fully enclosed nature of the processes eliminates nuisance odours, allowing installation at sites in close proximity to residential areas.
