Kirsten James
Kirsten James is the Senior Manager for California Policy and Partnerships at Ceres based in the San Francisco program office. She leads the development of strategy and policy objectives for Ceres’s California-focused work, including the business-led California water campaign, Connect the Drops. Kirsten also maintains and builds Ceres’ business and investor partnerships within California and mobilizes them in support of public policies that call for sustainable water management, clean energy and greenhouse gas emissions reductions in California.
Prior to Ceres, Kirsten worked for 9 years at the Santa Monica-based environmental group, Heal the Bay. She served as their Science and Policy Director, leading the organization’s efforts related to statewide and regional water quality and water supply policy and regulation. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and a Masters of Environmental Science and Management from the Bren School at University of California Santa Barbara.
Ceres is a non-profit organization advocating for sustainability leadership. We mobilize a powerful network of investors, companies and public interest groups to accelerate and expand the adoption of sustainable business practices and solutions to build a healthy global economy.
To accomplish our goals, we work with leading companies, investors, public interest groups, policymakers and other economic players to advance sustainable solutions that will reduce carbon emissions and other pollutants, protect vital natural resources like water supplies, ensure safe and just working conditions for employees and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels while transitioning to a clean energy economy.
Ceres recently began a California program office to focus on the state’s water, climate and transportation issues.
