Mr. Jeffrey Mendelssohn is a seasoned entrepreneur with extensive startup and business development experience. He earned his BA in chemistry from Wesleyan University and his MBA from Stanford University. Prior to Stanford he founded and sold his first business, Computer Freelance, which was a temp agency based in San Francisco. While attending business school at Stanford, he founded and raised venture capital for Release Software, a software company that made software tools for the digital distribution of goods over the internet. He also founded eWish, a company that developed gift registry systems for online merchants, and received an international patent in online gift registry aggregation.
In 2010, Jeffrey left the dot.com craze and joined the bluetech wave as Porifera’s first business hire. Jeffrey has been in instrumental in helping Porifera obtain several development agreements with the federal government, including $6.4 million in Department of Defense funding for developing a portable desalination system, $500,000 in National Science Foundation funding for developing advanced forward osmosis membranes, and $120,000 in NASA funding for designing and manufacturing an advanced forward osmosis element.
