Cees Buisman is a professor in Biologically Sustainable Technology and the Scientific Director of Wetsus.  Since 2003, he has been a professor in the sub-department of Environmental Technology at Wageningen University in the field of biological reuse and recovery technology. He combines this position of professor with his position as executive board member at Wetsus, “centre of excellence for sustainable water technology”.

Before joining the university, he held the position of Director of Technology and business development of Paques bv from 1990 till 2003.

Cees holds a MsC and PhD degree from Wageningen University & Research.Cees is member of the Advisory Boards for BSDL research school TU Delft; KWR water recycle research institute (Nieuwegein); AcTI Netherlands Academy of Technology and Innovation (Amsterdam); Science & Technology Board EU (Joint program initiative on water – Brussels); and the Energy Academy Europe (Groningen). Cees also sits on the Supervisory Boards of Paques and NanoNextNL.
