Ramesh started a Strategy and Innovation consulting firm named “Angstroms” in July 2009. As its Chief Architect he is currently advising startups, utilities and Private Equity firms on operational and investment strategies. Ramesh specializes in performing technical and business due diligence and targets companies in the clean energy, water, and waste management fields. Ramesh also plays an active role in identifying unique early stage start-ups and helps them identify partners to accelerate their growth.
Prior to Angstroms, Ramesh was the Chief Technology Officer for GE Water and Process Technologies and played a key role in developing the acquisition, technology integration and globalization strategy for GE Water. He integrated and managed the engineering and technology organizations of over 700 engineers and scientists. He also established global R&D centers in China, India, Singapore, Qatar, Hungary, Italy and Alberta,. Ramesh also secured over 150 MM in R&D grants for GE Water.
He also played a role as the Technology Council Leader for GE Infrastructure which comprised of 4 divisions including GE Water, GE Sensing, GE Security and GE Fanuc from 2003 – 2005. He established the software and hardware center for this division in Hyderabad, India in 2005.
Ramesh started his career at A. Schulman Inc a 2 B specialty chemicals and masterbatch manufacturer based in Akron, Ohio. He spent over 20 years starting as its R&D manager and later became its Manufacturing manager for its compounding and masterbatch manufacturing operations. In 1988 he took on a new role as A. Schulman’s business development manager in Mexico.
After building the business to 10 MM dollars. he was appointed as the General Manager for A. Schulman’s Mexican and South American operations. He started the manufacturing plant, the business in Mexico and grew the business to 30 MM in 3 years.
As his next move, Ramesh was promoted as the General Manager for Asia, based in Singapore. He lived in Asia for 6 years from 1995 -2000. Ramesh started A. Schulman’s first manufacturing plant in Asia during the economic crisis. This was highly profitable and led to the establishment of a second manufacturing plant in China in 2003.
Ramesh was promoted as the Chief Technology Officer— a Corporate officer, in 2000, and moved back to Akron, Ohio. He led the corporate strategy shift from automotive business to consumer packaging business. This required major restructuring of technology, manufacturing assets, product transformation and re-engineering that culminated with the closure of three North American plants—thus shifting the focus from automotive to flexible packaging markets.
Ramesh graduated with a M.S and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Akron. He served as member of the International Advisory Board to the Ministry of Environment and Water for the Government of Singapore from 2006-2009. He also served as the Executive Board member at the National Center for Food Protection and Defense ( A Homeland Security center at the University of Minnesota). He is also on the board of Imagine H2O a non profit organization based in the Silicon Valley supporting entrepreneurs. He has 4 issued and 4 filed patents and several publications.
Ramesh is currently working with companies in Israel, India, Malaysia, Singapore Japan, USA and Canada.
