Carlo Bertani is an environmental subject matter expert with over fifteen years of experience working for government, large corporations, and small businesses to create and accomplish their environmental sustainability goals. Carlo currently works at Maersk, helping the world’s largest container shipping company achieve their ambitious sustainability and decarbonization goals; focusing primarily on electrification of trucks and cargo handling equipment, and working on future fuels strategy for the maritime industry. Prior to Maersk, Carlo spent eight years at Walmart corporate working in the operational sustainability space, implementing water resilience and waste reduction programs. Before Walmart, he spent five years at the U.S. EPA as an environmental scientist remediating groundwater contaminated sites on Tribal Reservations in the Pacific Northwest and inspecting underground storage tanks. He studied Environmental Policy and Environmental Science at the University of Washington in Seattle and is also a Federal Aviation Administration certified jet mechanic and a U.S. Coast Guard certified boat operator.
Some of his favorite non-work activities include cooking, gardening, traveling, spirited driving, and spending time with his three little boys and amazing partner in crime (and breadwinner), Ellie. He currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.
