Dennis Merens was appointed Managing Director, Corporate Venture Capital in June 1994. The purpose of the position is to pursue both financial and strategic objectives through investments in venture funds and start-up enterprises.
He provides venture capital expertise and the key leadership required to structure and operate a global corporate venture capital program.
Merens coordinates a multi-functional effort to identify, assess and exploit potential investment opportunities that optimize both technology and financial objectives.
He joined Dow Sales and Marketing in 1970. He transferred to Latin America in 1975 as marketing manager and returned to the U.S. in 1980 as Sales Manager for Functional Products & Systems and Group Marketing Director in 1983. In 1985, was appointed General Sales Manager for Boston, and in 1986 Zone Vice President of Sales for Chemicals & Performance Products.
Merens completed Venture Capital Investment programs at Harvard and the Venture Capital Institute. He holds a bachelor’s of science degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin.
He is on the board of Dendritech, Inc , Impact Analytical, Pfenex, Inc and Waterhealth, Inc.
