Dr. Engr. Jorien Favere (°1995) is a drinking water expert who has taken up the position of Chief Scientist at Orb, where she aims to conduct customer-focused in-depth research and development of Orb’s technology for managing microbial water quality risks. She obtained her PhD in Bioscience Engineering from Ghent University, where she worked closely with the drinking water industry and published several papers in prestigious peer-reviewed journals. During her PhD, Jorien’s work focused on biostability in drinking water systems, with a particular interest in online monitoring technologies and microbial water quality management. Her expertise in these areas has made her a valuable contributor to the water industry, and to her current position her research has helped to improve the quality and safety of drinking water around the world.
