Catherine McIntyre is a research analyst who joined BlueTech Research in 2022.
In her science career she studied Environmental Science at National University of Ireland, Galway, picking up internships in microbiology, and ultimately graduated with a degree in chemistry. She then completed a PhD in biogeochemistry at the University of Bristol, developing analytical methods for analysis of phytic acid in soil. This work was in the context of the high-resolution characterisation of organic compounds in freshwater ecosystems.
Most recently, Catherine was the Senior Environmental Chemist for a start-up, developing industrial microwave technology for the pre-treatment of FOG and activated sludges for anaerobic digestion.
In a previous career, Catherine was an animator, working on shows for Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, before following her curiosity into the world of science and the environment, with a special interest in water.
