Tracy currently works at bp as the Technical Water Advisor where she is accountable for setting the engineering water strategy across the business (downstream; upstream; gas and low carbon energy), which involves new water technologies and practices, and for providing deep technical water expertise. Within this role, she is actively involved with the sustainability framework through Aim 17, which is to become water positive by 2035, and Aim 19, which is to unlock new sources of value through circularity. Water is one of the planet’s most precious resources, and Tracy is passionate about manage its use and continually improving operational efficiencies.

Tracy has also worked within bp’s centralized technical refinery group as a principal desalting engineer; a reliability engineer and a wastewater treatment engineer, which have provided her with a greater operational understanding of the water and wastewater systems. Prior to bp, Tracy spent 9 years working for URS Corporation (now AECOM) as a wastewater treatment engineer where she served as the project manager and process engineer for wastewater treatment plant designs and evaluations. In addition, she was actively involved with the compliance permitting and kept abreast of the upcoming regulations. Tracy holds two degrees, a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry (University of Liverpool) and a PhD in Chemistry (University of Leeds). She lives in Seattle, where she can often be found on the water sailing (either racing or cruising) or hiking in the mountains.
