DESALX® removes calcium, magnesium, and sulphate from water, typically achieving zero liquid discharge with an operational cost of only 0.5-0.8 USD/m3. Using our proprietary continuous ionic filtration technology, multivalent cations such as calcium and magnesium are removed from water, followed by multivalent anions such as sulphate. Monovalent ions such as sodium and chloride aren’t removed, avoiding saline brine issues that are created by reverse osmosis. DESALX® achieves ZLD by moving the low volume of gypsum-based brine to existing lime precipitation systems on site to create gypsum solids, or by using a high-density sludge clarifier to create a gypsum based sludge.
