Susan MacKay is CEO of Cerahelix, a materials and cleantech startup that she co-founded in 2011. Cerahelix manufactures innovative filter products based on patented DNA ceramic chemistry that are used to treat and re-use industrial wastewater. Susan has more than 20 years’ experience in materials research and characterization, including 6 in corporate R&D at 3M Corporation. She previously founded Zeomatrix (now known as Odigo), a University of Maine spin-off company that markets innovative paper products. As CEO of Cerahelix she has been a Mass Challenge finalist and presented the winning pitch at Expo Day for Plug and Play Ventures New Materials accelerator in Silicon Valley. Susan has raised more than $3 million in early stage financing for Cerahelix, holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill, and was named a 2011 Mass High Tech “Woman to Watch”.
